Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Lazenby Eyecare the leading provider of vision care products and services in Joplin.
Lorry Lazenby, O.D.
Dr. Lazenby has been in practice for over 30 years.
He specializes in Low Vision, the treatment and continued care of medical conditions such as Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration, and Cataracts, as well as complications due to Diabetes and high-risk medications. He works closely with area Ophthalmologists and sees a variety of Post-Operative patients. He is eager to help with all vision care needs, big or small.
He is so much more than just the trusted eye doctor giving new prescriptions for glasses and contact lenses. In fact, over his extensive career, he has volunteered many hours to the Gift of Sight Program, and local Low Vision Rehabilitation Programs, and has even volunteered for examinations overseas in Africa. He is passionate about enhancing the vision of all people and all ages!
In his down time, he is an avid Tennis player. He relishes the challenge and adventure that backpacking and hiking all over the United States brings; he especially enjoys trips when his children can join him. His spare time is best spent in the company of his beloved family, especially his grandchildren.
Nathan Sharp, O.D.
Dr. Sharp is a graduate from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee.
He graduated with honors from Southern Utah University with a degree in Nutrition. He chose to become an eye doctor for the unique and positive impact he can make in the local community. He is happy to see you for routine eye exams as well as medical eye exams for diabetes, glaucoma, red eyes, dry eyes, and much more.
Dr. Sharp is a member of the Missouri Optometric Association and American Optometric Association.
He and his wife are happy to be living in Joplin. You might catch Dr. Sharp out on a walk with his wife and dog, at the bowling alley, or playing disc golf. He also enjoys fishing and makes frequent trips to Table Rock Lake. He is excited to be a part of the Lazenby Eyecare team.
Shaina, Office Manager
Shaina has worked for Dr. Lazenby since 2005, when his office was located inside Northpark Mall.
With the grand opening of our beautiful new facility on 32nd St in 2009, she followed Dr. Lazenby and continues as office manager. We often joke that her real title is office “Chaos Coordinator” as she does a great job with all our employees.
She has a blue belt in Jiu Jitsu and loves all things Racing. In her down time, she spends a lot of time at the lake with family and friends, fishing, and riding jet skis.
Betty
Betty came to our office in 2009 as our lead Optician.
As of 2023, she has gone to retirement status, but still can’t get too far. She still manages to help our patient’s optical needs to this very day and comes in as a casual part-time employee. She enjoys optical and likes knowing she is helping the patients pick out the glasses that best meet their needs and expectations.
She is a very proud grandmother of 7 and enjoys spending time with family as much as she can!
Shannon
Shannon has worked for Dr Lazenby off and on since 2009.
She is our pre-screener and technician. She is great with patients and keeps things in order for our doctors. She is the main contact lens new fit trainer and performs the majority of our testing. She also helps out with answering patient calls and in the optical department as needed.
Shannon enjoys spending as much time with her children and grandchildren as she can, she is truly an asset to our team!
Lisa
Lisa started with Dr. Lazenby back In November 2010.
She is our “Jack of all trades,” and there is not much in the office she cannot do! Her main responsibility is to assist with administrative duties, such as filing medical and some vision insurances, posting insurance payments, and billing. She also makes sure contact lenses are ordered in a timely manner for our patients.
In addition to her daily tasks, she is always willing and able to help out at the front desk, in the optical, or with testing and pre-screening.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 children.
Andrea
Andrea began employment March of 2014.
If you’ve been to our office, there’s no doubt you’ve been helped by Andrea in one way or another. She started as a pre-screening tech and contact lens specialist, then went to being a medical scribe for the doctors, and now enjoys being in charge of the optical department.
She is our frame buyer and makes sure we have a great selection for everyone, and does a great job at explaining all lens options available. She makes sure all of our patients’ glasses orders are sent to the lab in a timely manner. If you need your glasses adjusted or need a new pair, she will be the main one you will see for your optical needs.
In her spare time, she loves spending quality time with her family and attends all of her niece’s and nephew’s events.
Amber
Amber began in July of 2014.
She helps check patients in and out and answers majority of the phone calls in the office, so there’s no doubt she’s helped answer many of your questions or helped schedule your next appointment with your doctor. She also prepares each chart for every examination and helps authorize insurance policies.
She has lived in the area her whole life and still enjoys finding new museums, festivities and concerts the area has to offer. She also enjoys gardening and spending quality time with family.
Cathy
Cathy has been part of our staff since 2020.
She takes care of preparing patient charts for the doctors and making our reminder calls. She checks in our glasses orders when they come in and takes care of pricing frames out. She files all of our charts and helps answer phone calls. She also helps put frames away and keep them organized. She’s always happy to help with anything!
Cathy enjoys spending time with her kids, grandkids and her very first great-grand baby.
Amanda
Amanda joined our team in 2023.
She works the front desk and is one of the first people to greet you when you arrive at our office. She answers calls, helps check patients in and out, and verifies vision insurances before patients arrive. She makes appointments, calls in prescriptions, takes contact lens orders and so much more. When you call our office, she is one of the people that will make sure you are taken care of no matter what it is you need.
